This site is dedicated to James Hector - doctor, scientist, explorer, administrator and family man. It is aimed at encouraging and enabling the general public to learn more about this extraordinary man. It will develop over time so do come back to check it out again.
We will not only look at the man himself but will also look at the organisations he was involved with, his family, and a range of other closely (or not so closely) related topics.
These are the first sections, dealing with Hector’s life before he came to New Zealand. Sections on Otago and Wellington will follow.
